Card blocked, card deleted by PaySika: here's everything you need to know !

Dear users of the PaySika virtual Visa card, welcome to this article! Your card is blocked or even deleted, but you're not exactly sure what these terms mean? You’d like to understand when and why a card can be blocked or deleted by PaySika? You’re in the right place — read until the end to learn everything!

What does “blocked card” mean at PaySika?

At PaySika, a card is considered blocked when it has made three (3) failed payment attempts.

In other words, you tried to make a payment on a platform, but it failed due to insufficient funds. You tried again, and after a total of three (3) failed attempts, your card gets blocked.

🚨Please note : Each failed transaction generates a fee from our partners. To avoid excessive fees and to protect our reputation with merchants (some of whom may ban our cards due to frequent failed payments), we’ve put this system in place. You’ll always receive an email and a notification warning you after the first failed payment, so you’re aware and can act before your card gets blocked.

What does “deleted card” mean?

On the other hand, a card is considered deleted when it has accumulated six (6) failed payment attempts due to insufficient funds. Once your card is deleted, you cannot recover it. You’ll need to create a new card, which will cost 1,800 FCFA (creation fee for the second card).

How to avoid it?

To avoid having your card blocked or deleted, here are 3 key tips:

Always top up your card before making a payment. Make sure your card is sufficiently funded before initiating any transaction. We’ve even built a payment simulator in the app, which helps you see the exact cost of a transaction in real time. Use it to stay safe and avoid failed payments.
Remove your card details from certain websites. Some websites charge you automatically, even without notifying you. If your card has insufficient funds, this may trigger a failed payment and lead to it being blocked. To prevent this, remove your card info from any site that uses automatic billing.
Use the payment estimator. In the "Explore" section of the app, you’ll find the payment estimator, which helps you get a real-time cost estimate before proceeding. It’s a great way to avoid failed payments and ensure smooth and reliable transactions.

If you need more help, don’t hesitate to contact us via the in-app chat.
We’re always here to make sure you get the best out of your PaySika experience!
